I heard a talk recently (Simon Singh) in which he played some Black Sabbath backwards. Sounded strange, but nothing intelligible. Then he showed us the words which some people claimed were hidden in the backwards song and suddenly we could 'hear' them. Same thing here, surely. Without the subtitles we would not hear speech.
